Harnischfeger Homes in Port Washington Wisconsin
Harnischfeger Homes Inc. on N. Spring St. produced thousands of pre-fab homes between 1946-1965. The 77,000 square foot manufacturing plant and 4 warehouses totally 36,000 square feet were acquired by Simplicity in the summer of 1965. There were those who were afraid these prefab homes wouldn’t hold up to the test of time. But Harnischfeger sold homes all across the country and many neighborhoods in Port Washington are made up of these homes.
